The Unique Front Pocket Wallet

August 23, 2011

The front pocket wallet is not exactly new to the market; however, it is not widely advertised.

The front pocket wallet was designed to alleviate pressure on the sciatic nerve, thus diminishing back and leg pain for those who are sensitive to pressure on the hip. The bulky back pocket wallet can cause discomfort in individuals sensitive to the slightest pressure on the hip area. This problem was the cause of a gentleman to design and manufacture the front pocket wallet in Lewiston, Maine, close to the Androscoggin River.
Local craftsmen are employed for this purpose.

The front pocket wallet is about ¼” thick, and measures five inches from the fold to the curved edge. It is created from various types of leather, as well as crocodile and snakeskin, and comes in a variety of colors. It fits quite comfortably in the front pants pocket, and is easily accessible. Another benefit is that it is NOT accessible to pick pockets. Can you imagine a pick-pocket reaching into your front pocket to steal your wallet? Not hardly.

Some of these wallets come with what is known as the wallet guard. The wallet guard is made to prevent access to your credit card information by blocking the radio frequency identification (RFID). Many credit cards emit this through a tiny microchip, allowing the card to be “read” without swiping, from as far as 30 feet away.

The wallet guard can be purchased separately in the case where it isn’t already installed in the wallet.

The front pocket wallet can be used in the back pocket as well, for those who prefer to carry them that way.

Why Choose Leather Gifts

August 9, 2011

Leather Gifts are a fabulous alternative to the shirt, blouse, sweater, tie, scarf or other ordinary gift. They are unique and different, appropriate to give, and delightful to receive. Leather is rich in appearance, sturdy, long-wearing, and increases in beauty as it ages. There are many choices of leather gifts besides jackets, briefcases, duffel bags or handbags. For example, one might consider a personalized leather note jotter/organizer equipped with a “to do” list, pen and a place for business or credit cards. The jotter is a handy item for the busy lady on the go, or for the grocery shopper.

For that special man in your life, there are leather gifts such as a cowhide automobile organizer to hold registration and insurance cards, and often includes such handy items as a tire gauge, pen and/or flashlight, or pockets for maps and auto handbook. Some are even equipped with a zipped first aid compartment, making it a versatile gift with everything in one place. The organizers are sturdy and last through years and years of wear and tear.

A soft, supple gift is the suede leather wine steward, made to carry a single bottle of wine, and is great for presenting a gift of wine to a close friend or colleague. An elegant genuine leather and suede lined wine case, complete with stainless steel corkscrew and bottle opener makes a fantastic gift. Even better is a double wine presentation case which regally transports two bottles in well-padded splendor. The suede lined genuine leather case with a convenient carrying handle and zip around design is a handsome gift, and usually includes a stainless steel wine steward’s corkscrew/bottle opener.

Another leather gift is the neat “valuables” pouch of suede leather with a secure leather zip closure and a swivel snap for attaching to a golf bag would be a welcome gift for the avid golfer. Many of these pouches have matching leather patches for logos and personalization.

For the lady who means so much – your Mom, wife, daughter – any lady you love and to whom you wish to give a beautiful gift, you can find a little zippered leather jewel case with a ring bar, snap pockets for bracelets or chains, and removable drawstring pouch. Or a charming little brag book, which is a small photo album at an affordable price for any proud grandparent or parent.

You might find a handy zippered leather ladies manicure kit among fine leather gifts. Perfect for the purse or overnight bag, the manicure kit has a cuticle nipper, cuticle pusher, fingernail clipper, scissors, tweezers and covered nail file.

A leather key fob is an inexpensive leather gift, perfect for any occasion. A double leather eyeglass case to protect two pairs of eyeglasses is an unusual gift, and is appropriate for both men and women. Usually the eyeglass case has a handsome lining with two eyeglass pockets and a magnetic snap closure.

So goodbye to the old “regular humdrum” gifts, and hello to the wonderful world of leather delights.

The Wonderful World of Leather Jackets

August 1, 2011

Before setting out to purchase a leather jacket, one of the most important things to consider is the size. It’s extremely important to measure chest, sleeve length, and body length in order to select the appropriate size you wish to purchase. This is particularly true in the case of embossed or embroidered personalization, which is often available for an additional fee.

Fine genuine leather for men’s and ladies jackets is a much admired and desired element. A fine grade of genuine cowhide or lambskin will offer you years and years of sturdy, elegant looking style, and a sense of pride when you wear it. Excellent grades of leathers are not only handsome, but give you the added advantage of strength and durability as well as a sense of satisfaction in the way it looks and fits on you. Good leather men’s and ladies jackets are constructed, not only of the best leather that money can buy, but most have strong number ten zippers that don‘t break the third time you zip them up. These zippers will hold up through the wear and tear, and eliminate the need for costly replacement. Some jackets are constructed with storm flaps on the back, which allow for ventilation.

Fine leather jackets are designed to meet the needs of anyone desiring a stylish bomber type jacket, a handsome flight jacket, or a sleek racing jacket. Many leather jackets have zip-out linings to increase the number of months in which they can be worn. Most are lined with sturdy nylon, with a light weight polyester fiberfill for warmth. Another nice feature about men’s and ladies leather jackets is that they are can be fashioned in more colors than just black. For example, racing jackets have colored checkers on the shoulders. Some suede styles for ladies are brown.

A good leather jacket can be worn with pride any place you want to go. It can be dressy or it can be dressed down for a casual look. It can be worn to almost any event and feel comfortable. Shopping, church, school, or traveling; men’s and ladies leather jackets will look smart, chic, and fashionable.

For traveling, you can’t ask for a better jacket. They don’t wrinkle or look like they’ve been slept in. You can hang them in your vehicle or pack them in your luggage without concern for the way they will look when you unpack. Men’s and ladies leather jackets should be professionally cleaned to maintain their beauty.

Once you have selected and purchased a leather jacket, bear in mind that the best way to clean them is professionally by an experienced leather cleaning establishment. If you truly wish to clean it yourself, you can find cleaning instructions on line, simply by keying in “How to clean leather”. There are many types of leather and each seems to have a cleaning method appropriate for them.

Enjoy your leather jacket for years and years!

The Amazing Variety of Deskpad/Desktop Sets

July 26, 2011

For twenty-five years I worked as a secretary, never realizing how many varieties of desktop or desk pad sets were available. My desk always had that black imitation leather corner base with a calendar-type pad. It didn’t even have a blotter under the calendar to make it look better.

In recent years, in pursuit of my love for leather, I learned that there are many varieties of desktop sets from which one can choose. Colors range from black, to brown, to burgundy, and some even include wood, such as walnut. The browns may be chocolate brown or rustic brown; they might even be in a crocodile pattern. Now that’s pretty fancy, but for the sophisticated executive office, it wouldn’t be surprising to see crocodile patterned leather framing the desktop set.

Along with the desktop pad itself, there are anywhere from three to ten or more pieces that can be had in the same material and design. Leather correspondence trays will catch anyone’s eye. They are handsome to look at, and with several sheets of correspondence in them, providing the look of a busy executive. A pencil cup to match looks pretty neat, too. Or the little notepad holder, sitting there on the desk pad, with a handsome pen next to it.

Other items you might find on the busy executive’s desk are a letter opener with a leather handle, or a business card holder (all, of course, matching the desk pad). Of course, we must not forget the leather portfolio, or padfolio, in which to take notes or minutes of a meeting. Oh, how I would have loved to have all those things on my desk when I was working. I would have felt like quite the impressive executive’s assistant!

Briefcases & Leather Laptop Briefcases

July 19, 2011

Leather briefcases and leather laptop briefcases have become one of the most valuable items a businessman can own. These briefcases can be fairly slim and hold documents only, or they can be wider and larger to accommodate not only documents, but laptops as well. You can show your professional capability and presence with a distinctive designer briefcase. They are constructed of high quality fine leather and material. The heavy duty construction of most briefcases gives you years of reliable service. These leather briefcases and leather laptop briefcases have such features as zippers, buckles, magnetic closures, wheels, and many more. Designer briefcases for men and women will suit the needs of business men and women with impeccable good taste.

Many leather briefcases and leather laptop briefcases are equipped with detachable wheel and handle systems. With the handle extended, and the wheel system in place, you can roll through the airport with ease. Most of these briefcases have a shoulder strap which can be used instead of the wheel system, if that is the way you choose to carry it. The straps are most often made of a nylon material which is long lasting and durable.

Briefcases and leather laptop briefcases come in various widths. The slimmer width is used to carry documents neatly and safely. Some have two or three separate compartments to accommodate not only documents, but a laptop, and other miscellaneous items such as pens, note pads, business cards and cell phones. Others have individual pockets on the outside for these smaller items. The section which holds a laptop has a sturdy frame and high density foam to protect the laptop from damage. Still others may have slots on the inside for small items. Whatever the need, there is a briefcase that will be suitable.

The two most popular colors for men’s briefcases and leather laptop briefcases are black and brown. However, they can also be found in a camel color, or sometimes burgundy. Any metal parts, such as zippers, buckles, and magnetic closures are strong and made to last for many years of service. The weight of the briefcase or laptop briefcase depends on whether or not you are utilizing the wheel and handle shell, as well as the actual size of the case, itself. For example, a two pocket briefcase will have less weight than a three pocket briefcase. The briefcase that has the laptop pocket would weigh still more. All are designed for ease of carrying and are not too heavy to handle.

My Basic Black Leather Handbag

July 12, 2011

Where would I be without my basic black leather handbag?  This is the handbag that goes with me everywhere I go:  church, shopping, visiting, to meetings, or to the doctors’ offices.  It keeps everything I need in one place.

Let me start by saying that I am not one of those people who have to have a leather handbag to match every pair of shoes I own.  I know many think you have to own a white handbag for the summer, or brown handbag to go with brown shoes, etc.  That’s all well and good if you feel you have to be “in style”.  However, for me, it doesn’t matter what I have on my feet, or what I’m wearing for clothing, my basic black leather handbag will suffice.  The only time this doesn’t apply is when I go to a wedding or some other very dressy occasion.  Then I pull out my little gold clutch, or the silver one, depending on what I’m wearing.

My basic black leather handbag is approximately twelve inches in length, maybe six inches in width, and about eight inches high.  It has two sturdy handles attached by metal rings that go through metal rings in the handbag.  It has two outside pockets that go the length of the bag and close with magnetic snaps.  In those pockets you can find gloves in the winter, papers that I don’t want to get squashed or wrinkled inside the bag, various other things that just get dropped in them, and usually my car keys.

Inside my basic black leather handbag is a large compartment.  This is where my wallet, checkbook, and calendar live, along with my little bottle of Motrin (for arthritis) and an inhaler (for asthma). Oh, and don’t forget the tissues!  On one side of this compartment is a zippered pocket where I put tiny things that I don’t want to have to shuffle through the bottom of the bag to find.  On the other side are two pockets, one of which holds my cell phone, when I remember to take it along.  The other has a tiny sewing kit, a book of matches – why do I carry those?  I’m not a smoker – and a little tin of breath mints.

I have been carrying this basic black leather handbag for years now, like a part of me, its contents defining who I am.  It went to work with me until I retired, and it still serves me well.  It is sturdy, yet soft and pliable.  It has been through a lot over the years, and yet it still looks as good as the day I got it.  I expect it will be with me for the rest of my life, an extension of myself.
